Homeschooled on the family farm in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate NY, the audiences Rebecca grew up with usually contained chickens, cows, sheep…and whichever of her 8 brothers walking by.
Raised with many musical influences including Gospel, Bluegrass and Country, one of her early interests was acting, but she came to prefer a more simplified, musical approach on stage, as well as the artistic freedom to interpret songs her own way. Also, the director didn’t like it when she made up her own lines, even if it was “funnier this way.”

She has carried a sense of creative interpretation throughout her musical endeavors, and as one observer notes, it is
“… a stunning mix of knowing how to make a song her own; an uncommon patience for letting the lyrics unfold; an extraordinary ease that translates as old-soulfulness; and above all, perhaps, the sheer joy of sharing the songs she loves.” ~Mary Burdette, Associate Director, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival

Currently, when Rebecca is not performing with the band, she is obtaining a degree in business. She also works as a tutor and helps other students in English and Accounting, and always brings up bluegrass in the classroom in an attempt to gain more converts. Her favorite thing to do (besides play music) is eat things made with butter or bacon (preferably both).

Rebecca has performed with Rhonda Vincent, Claire Lynch, The Gibson Brothers, Russell Moore and Nothin’ Fancy, among others, and has also been featured on WVBR’s Bound for Glory radio show…

TOiVO

Sunday, 2/17 Fireside Music, 1-2:30pm, Full Lunch, no cover

Toivo is a band from Trumansburg, N.Y. playing music for social dancing – waltzes, tangos, polkas, cajun two steps, cheek to cheek slow dances, schottisches, hambos, reels, swing, and blues. Their music is a danceable mix of instrumentals and vocals with inspiration from the cajun dance halls of Louisiana, the Tex-Mex borderlands, country honky-tonks, and the Finnish dance halls and porches of the Finger Lakes.

The band consists of Richard Koski, diatonic button accordion; Jason Koski, mandolin; Stefan Senders, banjo; Jim Reidy & Paul Martin, guitar; Harley Campbell, upright bass; and Annie Campbell, snare drum.

Jaimie Lee and Kate

Red Newt Lunch Music

Jaimie Lee grew up in North Carolina, where her love for music began. She always enjoyed singing and had an urge to write songs. Learning to play the guitar was the perfect avenue for this creative venture. Through high school and college, she played solo gigs at coffee shops, special events, and bars/restaurants. Her musical influences early on were Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Jim Croce, and Ingrid Michaelson among others. Now in the Finger Lakes Region of New York, she is a solo musician playing a variety of covers as well as originals. Frequently deemed as having the “voice of an angel” (though if you ask her, that’s a bit of a stretch), Jaimie Lee has developed an Americana/folk/pop music style. She has a knack for putting her unique twist on cover songs and singing with a passion that will convince you those songs were her own. Her original songs are clever, thought provoking, and sometimes humorous with a hint of sass.

Jaimie can be heard at a variety of venues including wineries, breweries, restaurants, weddings and other special events. See the events page of Jaimie’s website for upcoming shows, most of which are in the Finger Lakes Region of New York.

Jen Cork

Red Newt Lunch Music

Jen Cork has a passion for dirt, baritone ukes, 1904 uprights, vocal layering, emotional honesty and found sounds. Piano, guitar, melodica, and damn, she can sing….and her voice is just the beginning. From packed art galleries, camp fire circles in Michigan, and harmony singing to deep listening rooms, Jen is at home.

She is a well-known part of the music scene in Ithaca, NY. She ruminates on rusty turnbuckles. She loves the history, grit and intersection of nature and mechanical objects, and her emotional songwriting grows out of these timeworn landscapes. There is history in her voice and legacy in her songs.

Cork was named “Best Female Singer” by the Ithaca Journal.

Finger Lakes Music Press called her a “Superb Vocal Stylist,” and her band was selected to perform at the Confluence Benefit for the National Women’s Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, NY.
